Differences in the breed
My Pages
As the NSH can have as much as 75% Saddlebred or as little as 1%, his looks can vary greatly.

Another way of looking at this is he can be as little as 25% Arabian, or as much as 99%.

Those horses on the Saddlebred end of the scale will look more like Saddlebreds and those on the Arabian end of the scale will look more like Arabians. Those that are a straight 50:50 cross (the most common in the UK at the present time) can bear similarities to either or both breeds.

There is no right or wrong to this - your NSH will look like the breed that appeals to you the most, the Saddlebred or the Arabian. Whatever he or she looks like, be proud of BOTH breeds!

Pinto is definitely the colour of NSH that everyone seems to want to breed and certainly there is a large market for them. However they come in solid colours too.

Wintera (50% Saddlebred, 50% Arab) NSH by Summertime Farms
Right, Hezza Hottie (50% Saddlebred, 50% Arabian) NSH from Chacaro Farms
Both these horses show the dished profile from their Arabian hertiage and the length of neck and pinto colour from their Saddlebred heritage.
